WHY GROW MUSK MALLOW?
A Pollinator Priority: The wide, saucer-shaped flowers provide easy access for long-tongued bees and butterflies. It is a vital nectar source during the peak of summer.
Delicate Scent: Unlike many wild mallows, this variety has a subtle, pleasant musk scent that is most noticeable in calm, warm weather.
Long Flowering Season: Produced in abundance, the beautiful rose-pink blooms appear from June all the way through to September, providing months of consistent colour.
Elegant & Airy: With its finely cut leaves and upright habit, it provides a softer, more romantic texture than the common mallow, making it perfect for blending into traditional cottage garden schemes.
GROWING INSTRUCTIONS
When to Sow: March to May or August to September.
Sowing: Sow onto the surface of moist seed compost or directly into well-prepared soil. Cover the seeds with a very fine layer of compost or vermiculite (approx. 2mm).
Temperature: Maintain a temperature of 15°C – 20°C.
Germination: Usually occurs within 14–21 days.
Care: If starting indoors, transplant seedlings to pots once they are large enough to handle and grow on in cooler conditions before planting out. Musk Mallow thrives in full sun and well-drained soil. It is a hardy, reliable performer that will often self-seed gently if the flower heads are left at the end of the season.
